Rock Music Rocks!

i miss the old cramped, tiny trader joe's of the topanga mall.
it's just not the same now, you know? i know it makes more sense all humongoid because trader joe's is such a popular store, but i miss the old one.

sometimes i think about all the music i haven't really listened to yet, names of bands that i keep hearing but haven't really truly heard. like, neutral milk hotel and other such hipstery music, but also like black sabbath and ac/dc. i don't mean i've never heard a single song, just it's different when you listen to something consciously. once i went on a date and the dude was playing aerosmith in the car and i was like, oh what's this? and he was like, aerosmith...(duh was the subtext), and i felt so stupid. anyway. sometimes i think, i wonder if that music is going to still be there the same way if i wait just a little longer to get into it. especially when i remember that johnny cash died the day after i bought his greatest hits album, and it's different listening to a dead man's music. or maybe i will be different and won't appreciate ac/dc in like 5 years down the line the way i would have say 5 years ago. probably the best solution for my music literacy deprivation has been becoming friends with steve. i highly recommend it. thanks to steve i am at least somewhat more familiar with m. doughty and tenacious d and liz phair. also, the clash song rock the casbah? steve is the one who enlightened me as far as lyrics being "sharif don't like it, rock the casbah, rock the casbah." before, i had no clue what the sharif don't like it part was and kind of just mumbled it.

really good guest post coming up, i can feel it in my bones.

i got to take off the orthopedic bra yesterday and take a real shower where you can stand under the water and stuff. woo!
